HOW TO GET TO PILSEN

Bus

The yellow Regiojet buses and the green-orange Flixbus buses travel to Pilsen from Prague every hour. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. You may purchase tickets online. You may also purchase tickets at the Regiojet counter at the Zličín bus station (the price is approximately CZK 100). Nevertheless, it is always certain you will receive a ticket if you purchase it in advance. Also, buses leave for Pilsen several times a day from the Florence bus station in the centre of Prague.

You can make your way to the city centre from the Central Bus Station in Pilsen (map) by taking tram no. 2 (exit the tram on stop ‘Náměstí Republiky’), trolleybuses no. 12 and 11 (exit the trolleybus on stop ‘Mrakodrap’) or bus no. 41 (exit the bus on stop ‘Sady Pětatřicátníků’). You can also take the short 15 to 20-minute walk from the station to the city centre (map).

Train

The railway lines that go to Pilsen are as follows: Prague, České Budějovice, Klatovy (Železná Ruda), Domažlice, Cheb and Žatec. Pilsen only has direct international train connections with Germany (Regensburg and Munich).

The Západní Express (Western Express) offers the fastest connection from the centre of Pilsen to the centre of Prague. The Express leaves every hour and takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive at its destination. We recommend reserving your tickets beforehand.

Travelling to the city centre from the Pilsen Main Train Station: after leaving the train station, turn right down the passageway to arrive at the trolleybus stops. From there, cross the junction and the tram stops will be on your left. There are two tram stops (no. 1 for Bolevec and no. 2 for Skvrňany) on the main city square (náměstí Republiky). You can also take the short 10-minute walk from the station to the city centre (map).

Plane

The closest airport to Pilsen is Václav Havel Airport Prague. Other nearby airports with international connections can be found in Carlsbad (Karlovy Vary), Nuremberg and Munich.

  • If you fly into the airport in Prague, you’ll find travelling to Pilsen by bus from the Zličín bus station to be your best choice. You can get to the Zličín bus station by taking bus no. 100 from the airport. You can purchase a bus ticket for CZK 24 from the automated machine at the stop. You can even pay with a contactless card.
  • You can also take a taxi when leaving the airport. The price to take a taxi from Prague to the Pilsen city centre will be approximately CZK 2,000. You would also need to call and order your taxi beforehand (+ 420 222 333 222).
